Company Name: Slednecks Athlete Support Manager: Justin Scullen Accepting Sponsorship: 9/1 to 12/31 Sports: Snowmobile, Motocross, Snowboard, Ski --------------------------- Tell us about your sponsorship program: It's a grass roots discount program for amateur and professional athletes. We keep our eyes out for worthy up and coming athletes that get the purpose behind sponsorship and representation. Is there anything unique about your program? Why would someone want to be a part of it? Slednecks is one of a kind in the snowmobile industry and is stepping outside the box into a wider range of action sports. The plan is to make our page cooler and the program more solid ASAP....as resources permit. What do you look for in a sponsored athlete or team? We look for a positive, professional attitude, and the more results the better. Do they know how to represent? Do they fully understand the concept of why companies sponsor athletes? (Not just to put stickers on, and wear a shirt.) What is the most important information for someone to include in their application? First: Results, results, and more results. What has the athlete done? Second: Good footage and good pics. Third: Presentation. It's important to see that they have put some effort into their SH Resume page. Fourth: Ambition. What are their plans? ....then they actually have to follow through. What is the most important thing for people to understand about sponsorship? Sponsorship is about being a promoter of self and company. Sponsorship is about being a representative and an ambassador for a company. Sponsored athletes must endorse and promote the companies products in a positive and professional matter at all times. In the big picture this goes above and beyond sticker placement. Athletes must create the spotlights for themselves, and put themselves in it. Companies want these guys. Most kids just want free stickers, and think that after they placed the sticker(s) their job is done. Has the internet changed the way you manage your sponsorship program or your sponsored athletes? If so, how? This site has enabled us to make connections with a couple of very worthy athletes. Previously we had no "grass roots" program. Only the elite "A" team. Tell us about your newest or most exciting product for this / next year: Moto gear! We've got some prototype moto gear in the works right now. Scheduled to release Summer 09.

Company Name: Fat Lip Clothing Athlete Support Manager: Billy Kay Accepting Sponsorship: All Year Sports: Motocross, Skate, Surf, BMX, MTB, Wake, Snowboard Spots Available: 41 -------------------------- Tell us about your sponsorship program: We are building our teams with a grass roots focus on 35 amateur athletes and are extending our professional roster 7 athletes this year. Our sponsorship program depends on the level of athlete, region and competitive schedule. At the most basic level we offer full clothing and accessory programs. From there the range increases to contest entry fees, pay for performance, and media coverage incentives. For our top tier athletes we also offer a quarterly stipend and custom clothing programs. Is there anything unique about your program? Why would someone want to be a part of it? We are a small, grass roots company - more like a family, actually - and the people we ask to join will be involved in ongoing conversations with us about product development, branding, advertising, etc. The benefit for them is that when a new ad or product comes out, they can see their opinions and ideas come to life. We don't just send out packages and checks, we're looking for active participation in making our brand and product better. If an athlete wants more from sponsorship than just a sticker on their helmet and cash in the wallet, they might want to give us a call. What do you look for in a sponsored athlete or team? For us, being a Fat Lip athlete is less about making the podium and more about embodying our spirit. The Fat Lip brand represents that place where pain and courage inevitably meet. It's about having the stones to step up, even though it's probably going to hurt. Whether it's your first paddle into a 50 footer at Mavericks or dropping into a halfpipe for the first time, we salute you. Our first clothing line was literally sketched out by our founder while he was in a hospital Emergency Room after suffering a spinal injury at Whistler. So, we like to see people who know that scars are a badge of honor and a sign of having tried a little harder. We laugh a lot at Fat Lip. We don't take ourselves too seriously. We believe that we are served enough attitude in our daily lives - we don't need more of it on our clothes. Our athletes reflect that. Finally, our motto is "Let's go!". It's about that moment when we decide to keep going forward instead of turning back. Our athletes are that person in the group is always the first one to go and whose confidence and enthusiasm gives everyone else the confidence to follow... What is the most important information for someone to include in their application? Beyond age, location, resume, reel and other sponsorships, we really need to see how they are involved in the sport in terms of competition or other participation. Most importantly, a letter, story, or vid of them telling us how they embody the qualities outlined above is what we want to see most. What is the most important thing for people to understand about sponsorship? We aren't just about competition. If a person is involved in and visible in the sports they love in some other way, then let us know. Also, whenever possible, we want to be the exclusive clothing sponsor for our athletes, so they should keep that in mind. Every company has a different method for how often they review applications. Do you have a methodology or schedule? We don't have a set schedule as yet. As mentioned, we are very grass roots. We take 'em as we get 'em. Has the internet changed the way you manage your sponsorship program or your sponsored athletes? If so, how? It has made things a lot easier. You can check event registrations, get and post footage and work more creatively with people than ever before. And you can talk to people individually or as a group. For a small company like us, the speed of the internet can also create burdens. If we have a heavy workload one week and can't get something online, we've missed a window. Tell us about your newest or most exciting product for this / next year: For us it is the Fall/Winter line we will be showing to the industry in January '09, which, for the first time will be full custom and include our first technical pieces. We landed a great production partner and that's enabled us to really get to where we wanted to go a lot faster than expected. We're pretty pumped about it.

Company Name: Factory Connection Athlete Support Manager: Steve Ross Accepting Sponsorship: 9/1 to 12/31 Sports: Motocross Spots available: 1500 ------------------------------------------------ Tell us about your sponsorship program: Factory Connection's goal of rider support is to help as many riders as possible within our budget in MX, AX, SX, Enduro, Here Scramble and GNCC. We want to help lower the cost of a rider's racing program in the suspension department. We also want to develop long term, loyal relationships with each rider that will reward them for in turn helping Factory Connection grow by way of referring new customers to us and promoting our company in a positive way. Riders and parents should understand that the biggest discount ISN't always the best deal. Factory Connection is a quality oriented company that offers generous rider support and the absolute BEST suspension services, products and customer / technical support in the industry. Is there anything unique about your program? Why would someone want to be a part of it? I think in today's sponsorship world.. we are one of the few companies that look at each and every resume thoroughly. We look at prior history with our company going back 3-5 years, sometimes e-mail or call the rider if we have further questions on their program or check with a reference they have listed. We are meticulus in our resume review process. Typically in the past we have given some FREE promo items with the rider's first purchase. Ex. Waterbottle, Towel, T-shirt... We have some new ideas for 2009 that are yet to be finalized. What do you look for in a sponsored athlete or team? Certainly we look at the professionalism, quality and completeness of the resume. Some Novice "C" riders do a way better job with their rider support resumes than Expert "A" riders. Factory Considers a number of factors when determining a support level for a particular rider. Ability level, results, their overall program wether it is local/national, where they are located, type of bike, IF they currently use Factory Connection. I like to see pictures.. alot can be seen or found out. I've seen riders claim they use our products or were actually a sponsored rider the previous year, however they did not have decals promoting our company. What is the most important information for someone to include in their application? For Factory Connection: 1) Pictures 2) prior years results 3) coming year's goals and events they expect to attend. I personally like riders that don't same the same old thing.. "I'll put decals on my bike" that is a requirement with any company! What is the most important thing for people to understand about sponsorship? Sponsorship programs are designed to be mutually beneficial. The rider receives support in way of discounted products/services and in-turn the rider should promote the company and do their best to refer new customers to the company supporting them. Riders and parents should understand that the biggested discount ISN'T always the best deal! Also, riders should select 1-2 companies that they believe in and want to use their products. Don't send a resume to 5 different suspension or clothing companies. You are wasting your time and the company's time. Sponsorship and the administration that goes with it consume a tremendous amount of time for companies. Every company has a different method for how often they review applications. Do you have a methodology or schedule? Typically in September / October is is 2-3 weeks response time. There is such a large quantity of resumes being submitted at one time it is difficult to respond within 1 week. November / December we are most cuaght up and it is 1 week or less response time. IF a rider absolutely needs to know becuase they wish to use our services/products immediately, then they can call and we can expedite. I must say it is frustrating when you do respond to a rider's request for support in a timely fashion, yet they do NOT sign their contract and return to us before the deadline or they do not accept or refuse the offer with NO explaination. Has the internet changed the way you manage your sponsorship program or your sponsored athletes? If so, how? It has raised the quality of resumes for the most part. Electronic submission/response it is more "eco'friendly" by not wasting paper and saves some stamps! Tell us about your newest or most exciting product for this / next year: Factory Connection's Works Remote Shock Reservoir for CRF's, RMZ's and KXF250. We are working on it for KTM also. It is a product developed thru our Geico Powersports / Factory Connection Honda team and can only be purchased thru FC with a shock rebuild or revalve. It is part of our FC Exclusive Elite Specialty Product line. We have some new Mini products for 85cc and CRF150 also. 2009 we have 2-3 new and innovative products coming.. we are finalizing testing in prototype stage.

Be grateful for the proposal you receive and if it doesnt meet your expectations then respectfully decline it. Read the fine print in the contract and follow it. Pay attention to the details! Every company has a different method for how often they review applications. Do you have a methodology or schedule? I review each application as it comes in and usually send out offers within 2 weeks. Sometimes due to travel this doesnt happen but normally its within 2 weeks. Has the internet changed the way you manage your sponsorship program or your sponsored athletes? If so, how? Yes, the whole sponsorship program is alot easier now and the internet has made it possible to reach kids that we normally wouldnt have seen. We can also sponsor a larger number of riders because the whole process is streamlined and efficient.
